Domestic tourism in Russia maintains steady growth in demand

Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov noted that at the beginning of 2024, continued growth in demand for domestic tourism in Russia is noticeable.

“The beginning of 2024 shows that the domestic tourism market continues to experience steady growth in demand. In January-February, the number of guests who stayed in hotels, sanatoriums, boarding houses and other accommodation facilities increased by 12.6% and reached 10.9 million people ,” Interfax quotes Dmitry Vakhrukov.

The Altai Republic stands out among the leaders, where the figure increased by 2.4 times, which is associated with the development of the Manzherok mountain resort. Also noted are the Orenburg and Smolensk regions, which offer comprehensive tourism products, including for guests from neighboring countries - Kazakhstan and Belarus. In the Khabarovsk Territory, the growth rate exceeded 80%; the Khekhtsir ski complex began operating in the region.

According to Dmitry Vakhrukov, the new figures confirm the sustainability of the trend for the growth of domestic tourism. Increased demand attracts investors. In 2023, according to the Ministry of Economic Development, more than 800 billion rubles of private investment were invested in the tourism industry, which is a third more than a year earlier.
